Its small-town origins place it in similar territory to the German sci-fi series Dark, the vampire horror, Midnight Mass and the cultural phenomena that is Stranger Things. The show has plenty of mystery and unique puzzles that keep audiences guessing while grounding it in sci-fi elements, which adds its own touch to the show.
